Our unit uses ozone and negative ions to clean the air and sanitize it. There are many positive benefits to using these two procedures.
Ozone has been proven to kill mold and mildew. It has also been proven that only a small amount of ozone is needed to kill bacteria, germs and viruses (e. coli, staphylococcus aureus, streptococcus salivarius, bacillus cereus etc.) (Pennsylvania State University, Gonzaga University, Michigan State University)
There are many pollutants in the typical home and office. Indoor air pollution (dust, pollen, pet dander etc.) is at least 10 times higher than outdoor air. Negative ions reduce these particles along with microorganisms. (Pennsylvania State University et al)
Another benefit of negative ions was demonstrated in a study done by Columbia University in which they claim negative ions can improve a person’s mood. They performed an experiment in which they used two test groups of depressed people. They exposed one group to negatively charged ions daily, this group showed an anti-depressant response, while the group who were not exposed to negative ions remained depressed. (Columbia University)
Our air purifiers have been widely used in areas that have been affected by catastrophic events. In some of these instances FEMA approved financial assistance to the consumer. For example:
Hurricanes and floods: Katrina, Wilma, Tropical Storm Faye etc. The units were used to eliminate mold and mildew and odors from water damage.
Fires: Many units were sent out to California during the large fires in 2007. They have also been used in Florida and South Georgia for problems resulting from uncontrolled fires. The units take the smoke, ash and odor out of the air.
Our Company has also been looking into other areas in which our units can be used:
Uses in Pest Control:
Some
environmental friendly pest control companies are getting wise to
the use of commercial ozone generators in lieu of pesticides to kill
insects. Specific levels of ozone kill dust mites
, ticks, ants,
cockroaches and bedbugs. Insect Control Research, Inc, Baltimore,
MD. Purdue University researchers, taking a clue from air
purification systems used in surgical suites have discovered that
ozone can eliminate insects in grain storage facilities without
harming food quality or the environment. (Purdue
University)

Ozone in Schools

Wow, are you aware of this?!
Subject: OZONE - Indispensable in Schools
During the influenza epidemic in St. Louis, the most critical and
advanced cases were transferred to an open air school, which made
for high percentage of mortality. In one particular ward,
experiments were made with
ozonized air
on cases approaching or at the crises period
of the diseases where patients were able to inhale at all, they WERE
AT ONCE RELIEVED AND SUCCESSFULLY CARRIED OVER THE CRISIS.
Two schools were then used for an experiment, one with
OZONIZED air and another
with ordinary air. Both schools contained approximately the same
number of rooms. The following cases of sickness were observed and
tabulated:

Comparing the total days absent we find that in the school where OZONIZED air was used, the school children were absent, due to the foregoing cases of sickness, 475 school days, while in the school where ordinary air was circulated by means of the ventilating system, the school children were absent a total of 1,098 school days.
Thousands of lives would be saved every year if homes and schools were equipped with apparatus for the circulation of Ozone. Injected with the air of the building to the extent of one part of Ozone to one million parts of air, it effects approximately 100% purification. In five years that Ozone has been used in the Public Schools of St. Louis, TUBERCULOSIS CASES HAVE BEEN REDUCED 50%, ALSO OTHER DISEASES HAVE BEEN MATERIALLY REDUCED.

Fresco Air Cleaners Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What does the Fresco Air Cleaner do?
A. It purifies the air in your home or office by breaking down
pollutants.
Q. How does the Fresco Air Cleaner purify air?
A. The Fresco Air Cleaner reproduces the same effective cleansing
agents that nature uses to purify the air.
Q. Is the Fresco Air Cleaner an ionic purifier?
A. Yes. The Fresco Air Cleaner uses a special negative ion generator
with dual needle points to produce the ions. The ions cause dust and
other particles to precipitate out of the air.
Q. How does nature produce ions?
A. Negative ions are created naturally by waterfalls, ocean waves
and changes in the weather.
Q. How does activated oxygen work?
A. The Fresco uses electricity to split oxygen O2 molecules
into single O atoms which attach loosely to other O2 molecules to
become O3 (activated oxygen). This loosely attached oxygen atom is
unstable and seeks out chemical compounds and other pollutants and
oxidizes them on contact.
Q. How does nature produce activated oxygen?
A. Ozone is created electrically during active thunderstorms. The
electrical discharge creates a fresh clean smell that is very
distinctive. Ozone is also created by ultraviolet rays from the sun.
Q. How do I know activated oxygen is being produced?
A. Ozone has a very distinctive smell. So the best indication is
your nose. You should notice a very fresh clean smell in your home
or office.
Q. Is ozone safe?
A. Yes, but as with anything, moderation is the key. Ozone in high
concentrations can be irritating to mucous membranes and the
respiratory system. If you smell Ozone and you walk into the room
turn the purifier down. If you smell household odors you may turn it
up for a period of time. Click here to learn more about Ozone.
Q. What is an ozone alert?
A. Ozone is an indicator of pollution. In cities there are alerts as
a result of high pollution levels from hydrocarbons produced by the
burning of fossil fuels. When ultraviolet rays from the sun strike
the hydrocarbons, O3 is one of the byproducts. Ozone can be easily
detected and normally means there is also a high level of
particulate in the air.
Q. How does it compare to air filters?
A. Fresco Air Cleaners does not rely on the air to actually pass
through the machine to be cleaned like conventional air filters.
It's not a filter at all. The Fresco Air Cleaners produces negative
ions that cause particles to drop out of the air space. In addition,
it has a built in sanitizer that attacks odor and other problem
areas at their source.
Q. What maintenance is required?
A. The plates in the back are easily removed for cleaning. Simply
wash the plates with soap and water, dry completely and replace.
Q. Where should I place the Fresco Air Cleaner in my home or office?
A. The Fresco Air Cleaner should be placed a few feet off the floor
in the room where you have the most pollutants. The Fresco Air
Cleaner is easy to move so you might want to try it in a couple of
locations to help decide what works best for your environment. Some
customers prefer to have more than one unit to better control air
cleaning in the home.
Q. How long will the Fresco Air Cleaner last?
A. The Fresco Air Cleaner is made of stainless steel and solid wood
construction. Because of the quality material and superior
craftsmanship that goes into each and every Fresco Air Cleaner, you
will enjoy it for many years.
Q. Is it difficult to install?
A. No. Just plug it in and set the dial for the area you will be
treating. Install the Fresco in any room, but try to find a
place where it can be up off the ground four feet or more.
